A series profiling the work of political cartoonists and the risks many take as they put pen to paper to defy social taboos with their often satirical drawings. This programme follows two cartoonists who work on diametrically opposing parts of the fence: Yaakov Kirschen is the pen behind Israel’s first comic strip ‘Dry Bones’, in existence since 1973, known for his Zionist & satirical view of Israel and Omayya Joyha, from Gaza, the Arab world’s first female cartoonist, whose cartoons reveal the suffering of Palestinians who live under harsh realities of Israeli occupation. In this episode, it becomes clear that although the geographical distance that separates these two cartoonists is small, the worlds they inhabit will almost certainly never meet.
